13. Education “Reform” a Trojan Horse for Privatization

Public education is the target of a well-coordinated, well-funded campaign to privatize as many schools as possible, particularly in cities. This campaign claims it wants great teachers in every classroom, but its rhetoric demoralizes teachers, reduces the status of the education profession, and champions standardized tests that perpetuate social inequality. The driving logic for such reform is profits.

Why is moving education from the Public Collectivist indoctrination complex into the private sphere a bad thing again?

Instead of the government indoctrinating your children, it will be Bill Gates, Koch Brothers, Coca Cola, etc. Which of these entities do we have the most control over?

The companies since we can choose to avoid them.

Guess this will be a boon for home schooling. Time for the “people” to set up real public schooling and bail out of this propaganda machine they call ‘public education’.

Why not give people a choice? From what I gather, it seems like the liberal establishment is more interested in protecting the teachers unions at the expense of the students. It should be the other way around.

Have you ever stopped to think that maybe, just maybe, it’s not about pure profit? Perhaps, those who look to privatize education, understand what a joke the current, public education system is. I just graduated high school. A quarter of the teachers at the school I went to should not be employed or need some intense professional assistance. They are incompetent. Why not open education up to some actual innovation?
