18. Palestinian Women Prisoners Shackled during Childbirth

Female Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons are treated inhumanely and often denied medical care, and legal representation, and are forced to live in squalid conditions. The conditions and violations faced by women in Israeli jails need to be addressed from a gender perspective, according to CEDAW, the United Nation’s Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women.

    Awful…
And CA Gov. Jerry Brown just signed a bill to end the practice of shackling pregnant prisoners during childbirth right here in the good old USofA

Look…I don’t see why all the belly-aching. Prisoners wear shackles. That’s how it is. This prevents them escaping or hurting themselves or others. You can’t free a fish from water…

        “Prisoners wear shackles.”

They shouldn’t while giving birth, dumb-dumb.

Sounds to me like the Israelis treat the Palestinian woman better than they are treated in Palestine…I don’t see a problem here.

My Aunt taught nursing @ university and she would tell us those (giving birth) who are considered in a position of possible harm to themselves or to those caring for her (ie. physicians nurses and other health care givers) would always be restrained (shackled) of course the palestinians use the term shackled in the most derogatory of terms. like the idiocy silkroad spewed out!
