21. Conservatives Attack US Post Office to Break the Union and Privatize Postal Services

The US Postal Service has been under constant assault for years from conservative Republicans who aim to eviscerate the strongest union in the country. Under the 2006 Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act, USPS must fully fund retiree health benefits for future retirees—including the retirement packages of employees not even born yet. No other organization, public or private, has to pre-fund 100 percent of its future health benefits. Thus, the post office’s oft-reported nine-billion-dollar deficit is largely a result of government-imposed overpayments.

This is what must be done…force all to fund the retirements annually or all you have is ponzi scheme just like Social security!

The USPS has a particular law that republicans don’t like, mail fraud, a felony. When most of your fundraising contacts count on fraud the mail privilege congress enjoys is less attractive.

America’s postal system is shaken down on a regular by Congress. Many will not be happy until one of their buddies is shaking down the middle clas more. Based on UPS and FedEx fees for delivery just what will it cost to get our bills paid with a private company delivering the mail?

The US government has NEVER run a profitable program. Never. Everything the government controls turns into a another taxpayer burden because the government only knows how to spend money, not earn it. They steal from the citizens and dump it into failed programs and line their own pockets.

  • Hmmm

yes… First, lets get some iron clad legislation to insure the retirement funds cannot be used by these companies.. as if they were their own bank accounts. Then if and when these companies die, the monies earned is still available. Is there any real choices that will protect workers funds? .
