9. Government Sponsored Technologies for Weather Modification

Rising global temperatures, increasing population and degradation of water supplies have created broad support for the growing field of weather modification. The US government has conducted weather modification experiments for over half a century, and the military-industrial complex stands poised to capitalize on these discoveries.

One of the latest programs is HAARP, the High Frequency Active Aural Research Program. This technology can potentially trigger floods, droughts, hurricanes and earthquakes. The scientific idea behind HAARP is to “excite” a specific area of the ionosphere and observe the physical processes in that excited area with intention of modifying ecological conditions. HAARP can also be used as a weapon system, capable of selectively destabilizing agricultural and ecological systems of entire regions.

Another Environmental Modification (EnMod) program is that of atmospheric geoengineering, or cloud seeding, which has found new life since the global warming scare. Cloud seeding involves creating cirrus clouds from airplane contrails. Unlike regular contrails, which dissolve in minutes, these artificial contrails can last from several hoursto days. Once the artificial clouds have been created, they are used to reflect solar or manmade radiation.

At a recent international symposium, scientists asserted that “manipulation of climate through modification of cirrus clouds is neither a hoax nor a conspiracy theory.” The only conspiracy surrounding geoengineering is that most governments and industry refuse to publicly admit what anyone can see in the sky or discover in peer-reviewed research. The Belfort Group has been working to raise public awareness about toxic aerial spraying, popularly referred to as chemtrails. However, scientists preferred the term ‘persistent contrails’ to describe the phenomenon, in an attempt to move the inquiry away from amateur conspiracy theories.

Dr. Vermeeren, Delft University of Technology, presented a 300-page scientific report entitled, “CASE ORANGE: Contrail Science, Its Impact on Climate and Weather Manipulation Programs Conducted by the United States and Its Allies.” He stated clearly, “Weather manipulation through contrail formation… is in place and fully operational.” Vermeeren mentioned a 1991 patent now held by Raytheon, a private defense contractor, with “18 claims to reduce global warming through stratospheric seeding with aluminum oxide… thorium oxide … and refractory Welsbach material.” Authors of the study expressed concern that Raytheon, a private corporation, makes daily flights spraying these materials in our skies with apparently minimal government oversight. Raytheon is the same company that holds the HAARP contract with the US.

Other countries are also experimenting. The Chinese government announced in April, 2007 the creation of the first-ever artificial snowfall over the city of Nagqu in Tibet. China now conducts more cloud-seeding projects than any other nation.

this is just wonderful- thanks so much project censored team- the growing numbers of people who notice what is going on in the sky is on the increase- every time i table about some issue- people point to the sky and ask ‘what is going on up there?’- they are hungry for knowledge and we really appreciate that one of the top accredited organizations in the US is now reporting on this travesty- thank you thank you

“EU Times” is not a scientific website, they seem to specialize in a variety of science fiction fantasy stories. Global Research is better, but they are Peak Oil deniers and are not in the business of science reporting, not even from a radical point of view.

Yes, there are efforts to manipulate weather (there was a 1976 treaty banning military uses of it) but the “science” in this story is not worthy of an award, to be polite.

By the way, two previous Project Censored award recipients are claiming recent earthquakes in Haiti and Japan were caused by the US military, without offering even the tiniest bit of actual evidence or seismological theory that would support this extraordinary claim. One of those recipients made up the “thermite” claim for the collapse of the World Trade Center (even though thermite has never been used for controlled demolition of skyscrapers as it lack the precise timing).

I hope Project Censored can find some politically radical, yet scientifically competent jurors to evaluate these sorts of claims in the future.

I agree with Peakchoicedotorg. I’m not dismissing the idea that the establishment maybe playing with our atmosphere, trying to create earthquakes etc etc. However, this article does Project Censored no favors at all. The EU Times has absolutley no credibility which in turn damages the credibility of your Project. There is obviously a problem with source filtering. It needs dealing with. It’s disapointing because otherwise I think this is a great project but I will think twice before recommending this site because of the reference issue.

I suppose that Russia not believing in Peak Oil and basing their drilling research and activities of the last 2 decades on it with remarkable success has no bearing on your opinion.
And you no doubt no nothing of the science behind chemtrails or you wouldn’t make such an absurd comment as there being nothing worthy.
How do you know those earthquakes weren’t manmade? Have you actually read about the very strange circumstances around them? Obviously not.
And it was nano thermite that was found in all dust samples after the twin towers collapses. As a demolitions expert, perhaps you could explain why there was unexploed demolitions and well as evidence of exploded demolitions in every single sample collected. Ah, but thermite isn’t used for such, huh. Just a crazy coincidence.
No, please, do yourself a favor and only ‘speak’ if you know anything about what you’re talking about.

You must not go outside. The evidence is all around you if you pay attention.
You must also not be able to read or just don’t have the motivation to do so. Have a look at the United States Patent administration and all their atmospheric spraying patents. Christ, the list is extensive. So apparently it’s Ron the Clown.

Good luck finding a seismologist anywhere who buys the internet claims about the US military creating the recent earthquakes in Haiti and Japan.

Most Russian geologists think the claim about “abiotic oil” and Peak Oil not being real is nonsense. Petroleum has easily examined microfossils of ancient algae that were compressed at high heat and pressure, the chemistry of oil is easily examined, if facts are sought.

There is not any actual evidence of thermite in the WTC and the firefighters on the scene used transits to watch the towers buckle and lean before they fell down. Thermite lacks the precise timing needed for controlled demolition, which is why it is not used to bring down skyscrapers. Meanwhile, actual evidence of complicity — suppressed warnings and overlapping wargames (during the attacks) — rarely gets mentioned by eithet the defenders of the official story or the 9/11 half-truth movement.

As Carl Sagan said, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Accusations and specious arguments are not evidence. Sorry.

i know chemtrails are real thanx for the story.Someday these people that dont look up want science to look up for them thats stupid there is plenty of science on the issue of chemtrails i also know haarp is real and so its likely that these quakes have been manipulated to be bigger than nature would have them be.HAITI JAPAN

It has been scientifically proven that contrails create rainclouds. It’s even on Wikipedia! I for one have stood outside and watched the contrails forming rain clouds. It’s very real and its happening now to deflect radiation from the sun. The suns hemisphere is diminishing at an alarming rate.
