Blanket Exemption of Climate Agreements for Pentagon

by Vins

As Project Censored has previously covered, the world’s worst polluter is the U.S. Department of Defense. A new report by Sara Flounders for the International Action Center updates this story. Not only does the Pentagon contribute immensely to our climate problems, it has a blanket exemption in all international climate agreements. In fact, Flounders reports, all U.S. military operations, within the U.S. and around the world, are not subject to measurement or reduction agreements.

The Pentagon’s own published studies confirm the risks and dangers our planet face, yet the U.S. officer corps is ardent to achieve “full spectrum dominance,” regardless of the environmental impacts. Flounders writes, “Every study of climate change by the military planners is based on evaluating how to take advantage of the future crisis to more firmly entrench U.S. corporate power and protect the irrational capitalist system that has created this crisis.”
