On February 9, 2013 a missile strike hit a former US military base in Baghdad, Iraq that, at the time, was housing the People’s Mujihadeen Organisation of Iran (PMOI). The strike killed six men and one woman and injured fifty others, some of whom were in critical condition. The PMOI accused the Iraqi government of not allowing their wounded to go to a hospital. This accusation was denied by the Iraqi government stating that, “casualties had been evacuated to the hospital immediately.” A UN special envoy requested that the matter be investigated immediately. The attack was said to have been conducted by The Badr Brigade, a military sect of a Shia group with close ties to the Iranian government.
