How do establishment media outlets frame and curate our reality? How prevalent is propaganda, and censorship in the US, at a time when we desperately need transparent factual reporting? In this episode, Mickey talks to two media analysts to find out as he welcomes back two leading scholars and journalists, Alan MacLeod and Robin Andersen. They spend the hour discussing current headline news, the recent 2020 presidential conventions and media coverage of other current events. They look at propaganda in the information age and how the corporate media are still manufacturing consent.

Alan MacLeod- is a Staff Writer for MintPress News. After completing his PhD in 2017 he published two books: Bad News From Venezuela: Twenty Years of Fake News and Misreporting and Propaganda in the Information Age: Still Manufacturing Consent. He has also contributed to Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting, The Guardian, Salon, The Grayzone, Jacobin Magazine, Common Dreams the American Herald Tribune and The Canary.

Robin Andersen is an author and professor of communication and media studies at Fordham University. She has written dozens of book chapters and journal articles, and she serves as a Project Censored judge. Her book A Century of Media, A Century of War won the Alpha Sigma Nu Book Award in 2007. Her latest book is Media, Central American Refugees, and the U.S. Border Crisis. She writes media criticism for FAIR, Common Dreams, and other online publications.
