In the article from The Electronic Intifada titled, Harvard Fellow Calls for Genocidal Measures to curb Palestinian Births. Harvard fellow,Martin Kramer called for ‘the West’ to take measures to curb Palestinian births. His statement seemed as a proposal to meet the international legal definition of a call for genocide. Kramer, who is also a member of Washington Institute for Near East Policy (WINEP), called for the West to stop providing pro-natal subsidies to Palestine’s with refugee status inevitably causing a curb in children born in the Gaza Strip. During his speech earlier this month at Israel’s Herzliya his main argument was too many children leads to too many “superfluous young men” who then will become violent radicals.
During 1948 the UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide defines genocide “intended to prevent births within national, ethnic, racial, or religious group.” Kramer’s view reflects a long- standing Israeli and Zionistic concern about the so called “demographic threat” to Israel as the Palestinians are about to outnumber Jews in Israel and Palestine combined.
