United States of Distraction: Fighting the Fake News Invasion

Student shot and produced, United States of Distraction: Fighting The Fake News Invasion (2020) features critical media literacy experts, students, and media makers who provide a dynamic understanding of so-called “fake news.” In addition to deconstructing the concept, the film reminds viewers that fake news is nothing new, but instead another form of propaganda. Edited and narrated by Abby Martin of The Empire Files, the film offers solutions to fight the pernicious influence of misinformation and disinformation on America’s democratic institutions.
